ඊසාන දිග මෝසම් සක්රීය විමත් සමග පසුගිය වර්ෂ 30 ක කාල සීමාවකට අදාලව ඊසාන දිග මෝසම් වර්ෂාපතන දත්ත සළකා බැලීමේදී උතුරු පළාත තුළ සාමාන්යයට වඩා වැඩි වර්ෂාපතනයක් බලාපොරොත්තු විය හැකි බවත්, උතුරු-මැද, නැගෙනහිර, මධ්යම සහ ඌව පළාත්වල සාමාන්යයට අගයට ආසන්න සහ බටහිර සහ දකුණු පළාත්වල සාමාන්යයට වඩා අඩු වර්ෂාපතනයක් ලැබිය හැකි බව කාලගුණවිද්යා දෙපාර්තමේන්තු පුරෝකථන වලින් පෙනී යන බව කාලගුණවිද්යා දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව නිවේදනය කර ඇති බවත් විශේෂයෙන් දෙසැම්බර් සහ ජනවාරි මාසව ලදී අඩු පීඩන ප්රදේශ, තරංග ආකාරයේ කැළඹීම්, අවපාත හෝ සුළි සුළං ඇතිවීමේ හැකියාවක් පවතින බවත් කාලගුණවිද්යා දෙපාර්තමේන්තුය විසින් නිවේදනය කර ඇති බව ආපදා කළමනාකරණ මධ්යස්ථානයේ අධ්යක්ෂ ජනරාල් විශ්රාමික මේජර් ජනෙරාල් සම්පත් කොටුවේගොඩ මහතා අද දින (12) රජයේ ප්රවෘත්ති දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවෙහි පැවති මාධ්ය සාකච්ඡාවේ දී පෙන්වා දෙන ලදී.
කාලගුණවිද්යා දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව විසින් පෙන්වා දී ඇති පුරෝකථන අනුව සියළු තාක්ෂණික ආයතන සම්බන්ධ කර ගනිමින් ජාතික මට්ටමින් මෝසම් පෙර සූදානම් කමිටුව රැස්කර සියළු පාර්ශවකාර ආයතන වෙත ඔවුන්ගේ වගකීම් සහ කාර්යභාරය සහ ගත යුතු ක්රියාමාර්ග පිළිබදව දැනුවත් කිරීමට ආපදා කළමනාකරණ මධ්යස්ථානය කටයුතු කළ බවත් හදිසි අවස්ථාවකදි ක්ෂණිකව ක්රියාත්මකවීම සදහා ත්රිවිධ හමුදා සහ පොලිස් මුදවා ගැනීමේ කණ්ඩායම් අවශ්ය උපකරණ සහිතව සූදානම් කර ඇති බවත් අධ්යක්ෂ ජනරාල්වරාය තවදුරටත් පෙන්වා දෙන ලදී.
දිට්වා සුළි කුණාටුව හේතුවෙන් ඇතිවූ අධික වැසි නිසා පස් ස්ථර ජලයෙන් සංතෘප්ත වී ඇති බවත් සුලු වර්ෂාවත් දී හෝ ගංවතුර සහ නායයෑම් සිදුවිය හැකි බැවින් මහජනතාව ඒ් පිළිබද අවධානයෙන් කටයුතු කළ යුතු බවත් අදාළ ආයතන විසින් සපයනු ලබන උපදෙස් ර කෙරෙහි මහජනතාව වැඩි අවධානයක් යොමු කළ යුතු බවත් තවදුරටත් පෙන්වා දෙන ලදී.
වාරිමාර්ග දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව විසින් පාලනය කරනු ලබන මධ්යම සහ කාඩා පරිමාන ජලාශ සලකාබලන විට ජලාශ 80 ක් පමණ විවිධ මට්ටමින් හානිවී ඇති බවත් ඇල මාර්ග සළකාබලන විට ඇල මාර්ග 225 කට පමණ හානි සිදුවී ඇතැයි ද වාරිමාර්ග දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවෙහි අධ්යක්ෂ එල්. එස් සූරියබංඩාර මහතා ප්රකාශ කරන ලදී. එසේම අමුණු 8 ක් පමණ හානි සිදුවී ඇති බවත් මේ වන විටත් මාවිල් ආරු ඇතුල් හානි වී ඇති ජලාශ කඩිනමින් සිදු කරමින් පවතින බවත් අධ්යක්ෂවරයා පෙන්වා දෙන ලදී.
ඉදිරි දින වලදී ඊසාන දිගමෝසම් තත්ත්වය තුළ ඇතිවිය හැකි වර්ෂාපතනය සැලකිල්ලට ගනිමින් වාරි පද්ධතිය කළමනාකරණ කරගැනීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් වාරිමාර්ග දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව කටයුතු කරමින් සිටින බවත් වාරිමාර්ග දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව යටතේ ඇති ජලාශ 34 ක් මේ වන විටත් වාන් දමමින් පවතින බවත් වාරිමාර්ග අධ්යක්ෂ විසින් ප්රකාශ කරන ලදී. ඒසේම යාන්ඔය දැදුරු ඔය සහ සේනානායක සමුද්රය යන ජලාශවල වාන්දොරටු විවෘත කර ජලය අඩු කිරීම සිදු කරනු ලබන බවත් පෙන්වා දෙන ලදී. එබැවින් ගංගාවල ජල මට්ටම් වැඩි වී ඇති බවත් එය ගංවතුර මට්ට්මක් දක්වා වර්ධනය වීමක් එතුලින් සිදු නොවන බවත් වාරිමාර්ග අධ්යක්ෂ විසින් තවදුරටත් පවසන ලදී. එසේම රටතුල ආහාර සුරක්ෂිතතාව සහතික කරගැනීම සඳහා ජල සම්බත කළමනාරකණය කළ යුතු බවත් පවතින කාලගුණික තත්ත්වය තුළ යම් අවදානම් තත්ත්වයක් පවතීනම් එය කළමනාකරණය කර ගැනීම සඳහා වාරිමාර්ග දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව කටයුතු කරන බවත් ඒ මහතා තවදුරටත් දන්වා සිටින ලදී.

Government of Turkey Donates Essential Relief Items to Sri Lanka
The Turkish Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Dr. Semih Lutfu Turgut, handed over a consignment of dry food and essential relief items to the Disaster Management Center (DMC) today.The donation was officially received by the Director General of the Disaster Management Centre, Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda (Ret.), during a ceremony held at the Disaster managment Centre.
Ambassador Turgut emphasized Turkey’s continued commitment to supporting Sri Lanka, noting that his government intends to participate in long-term development initiatives in disaster-affected areas across the country.
Director General of the Disaster Management Centre, expressed his gratitude for Turkey’s timely assistance and reaffirmed the DMC’s dedication to ensuring the effective distribution of the donated items.
Russia Donates Humanitarian Aid to Sri Lanka
A consignment of humanitarian aid from the Russian Federation was formally handed over to Sri Lanka (10 December) during a ceremony at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Sri Lanka, H.E. Levan S. Dzhagaryan, officially handed over the consignment during the ceremony at the BIA. Addressing the gathering, the Russian Ambassador said that the assistance symbolises Russia’s solidarity with the people of Sri Lanka during this challenging period.

India Donates Humanitarian Aid to Strengthen Sri Lanka’s Disaster Relief Efforts
In response to the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah, the Government of India — under Operation Sagar Bandhu — has delivered a major humanitarian aid shipment to Sri Lanka., the Indian naval vessel INS Gharial docked at the Port of Trincomalee carrying roughly 700 tonnes of relief supplies, marking the fifth naval delivery to cyclone-affected regions.
This consignment includes essential items such as dry rations, food supplies (pulses, sugar, and milk powder), clothing, bed sheets, towels, tarpaulins, and emergency shelter materials for displaced families.
Another IAF MI-17V5 Helicopter Arrives in Sri Lanka to Support Ongoing Recovery Efforts
The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) confirms that another Indian Air Force (IAF) Mi-17V5 helicopter arrived yesterday (09 December 2025) to bolster ongoing disaster recovery efforts.
Captained by Wing Commander Nagesh Kumar, the aircraft delivered an 11-member team and essential Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) materials.
This deployment strengthens the collaborative efforts between the SLAF and the IAF in assisting communities impacted by the disaster. The contingent was received at SLAF Base Katunayake by SLAF officials and representatives from the Indian High Commission.
IAF Two MI - 17 V5 Helicopters Depart Sri Lanka After Completing Humanitarian Operations
The first MI-17 V5 helicopter of the Indian Air Force (IAF), deployed to support Sri Lanka’s disaster relief efforts following Cyclone Ditwa, departed the island on 06 December 2025. The second MI-17 V5 concluded its mission and returned to India this morning (08 December 2025), marking the completion of the IAF’s air support operations conducted in close coordination with the SLAF.
During their deployment, the IAF MI-17 V5 helicopters carried out vital humanitarian airlift missions, including the transport of essential relief supplies, evacuation of affected civilians and aerial support to rescue and relief operations in heavily impacted regions. Their contribution significantly enhanced Sri Lanka’s national disaster response during a period of urgent need.

Myanmar Air Force (MAF) Y-8 Aircraft Arrives in Sri Lanka with Humanitarian Relief
A consignment of humanitarian relief items from the Government of Myanmar arrived in Sri Lanka today (06 December 2025). The shipment was transported by a Myanmar Air Force (MAF) Y-8 aircraft carrying essential natural disaster relief supplies to support communities affected by Cyclone Ditwa.
The relief consignment was officially handed over to the Sri Lankan authorities at SLAF Base Katunayake. The Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to Sri Lanka, Her Excellency Marlar Than Htaik, presented the items to the Sri Lankan Government representative.
A five-member delegation representing the Government of Myanmar, including the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Zaw Phyo Win, SLAF representative Director General Planning, Air Vice Marshal Deshapriya Silva and other Sri Lankan government officials, attended the event.
Indian NDRF Members Depart after Completing Operation ‘Sagar Bandhu’ in Sri Lanka
Indian National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) members departed Sri Lanka, after successfully completing their mission under ‘Operation Sagar Bandhu’.
During their deployment, NDRF teams carried out extensive rescue and relief operations across cyclone-affected regions in coordination with the Sri Lankan military, reaching deep-flooded pockets, delivering essential supplies and assisting residents in severely inundated areas. They effectively completed their first response duties, providing critical support at a time of urgent need.
Before their departure, the Base Commander of SLAF Base Katunayake, Air Commodore Amitha Jayamaha, together with SLAF officers, extended profound appreciation to the NDRF members for the invaluable support rendered to Sri Lanka during this disaster relief effort.

Two US C-130 Aircraft Arrive at BIA with Technical Expertise for Post-Disaster Relief Operation.
Two C-130 Hercules transport aircraft of the United States Air Force arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) today (07 December), bringing a specialized team of technical experts and essential equipment to bolster Sri Lanka's ongoing post-disaster relief and recovery operations.
US Ambassador to Sri Lanka, HE Julie Chung, Minister of Science and Technology, Hon. Professor Chrishantha Abeysena, Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), Deputy Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation, Janitha Ruwan Kodithuwakku and Director General of Disaster Management Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda (Retd), were present were present at the BIA to receive the US contingent.
The visiting US team, comprising technical specialists, will work in close coordination with the Sri Lankan Tri-Forces and the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) to expedite the distribution of aid, provide specialized assistance for infrastructure assessment, and reinforce national recovery efforts following the recent adverse weather conditions.

A consignment of emergency relief goods donated by the Government of Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) was officially handed over to the Government of Sri Lanka today at the Cargo Village, Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), to support communities severely affected by Cyclone “Ditwah”.
he handover agreement was formally signed between the Government of Japan and the Government of Sri Lanka, represented through the Disaster Management Centre (DMC). The ceremony was attended by H.E. Ambassador Isomata Akio (Embassy of Japan), Hon. Major General (Retd.) Aruna Jayasekara (Deputy Minister of Defence, Sri Lanka), Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda (Retd.), Director General of the Disaster Management Centre (DMC), Sri Lanka and Mr. Kenji Kuronuma (Chief Representative, JICA Sri Lanka Office).
The relief shipment includes tents, blankets, sleeping pads, plastic sheets, portable jerry cans and water purifiers, amounting to an estimated USD 200,000. These supplies will be immediately allocated to displaced families and communities affected by widespread flooding and landslides triggered by Cyclone “Ditwah”.
