Sendai Secretariat of Disaster Management Centre (DMC) under the state Ministry of Internal Security and Disaster management has successfully organized plenary discussion on “Importance of Implementation of Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR) to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals” on 15th December 2021 at Auditorium of Disaster Management Center, Vidya Mawatha, and Colombo 07 Sri Lanka.
Major General Sudantha Ranasingha Additional Secretary to the Disaster Management Division of the State Ministry / Director General Disaster Management Center, laid the foundation for the discussion highlighting the significance of resilience building to achieve Sustainable development .
Following, opening remarks of Mr.Takashima Kiyofumi , Senior Representative of JICA Sri Lanka on the “Coherence between SFDRR and Sustainable Development Goal achievement”, eminent panelist Mr. R.P.Samarakkodi, Additional Director General – DMC, Ms. Yasangi Randeni, General Manager, Group Business Development & Sustainability – Aitken Spence PLC, Dr. Buddika Hapuarachchi, Policy Specialist & Team Lead (Climate and Environment) – UNDP Sri Lanka, Dr. Vishaka Hidellage- Technical Consultant - UNDP, Sri Lanka contributed representing public sector, private sector, United Nation Development Programme and Non-Governmental organizations.
